Is this a good recipe?
Start with 11 felony counts that are going to put someone behind bars. Now change that to four felony counts that would mean years in jail.
Add hundreds of man-hours. Mix in thousands upon thousands of taxpayer dollars. Stir for 10 months, let set for one week, pour out your final decision. Oops. Throw out this batch. Now agree to a misdemeanor on a completely different charge.
What do you get?
Forty hours of community service and a small fine (this is less than a traffic ticket). In addition, this is probably because the person charged just wanted to end it all.
This was all over three signatures that are equal to 75 cents on the original petition for office. Now to quote our district attorney, “The guy pled no contest – that’s what I call a successful prosecution.”
What a wonderful use of our District Attorney’s Office.
