Editor,
The motorcycle rally in Hollister was doomed by the powers to be from the very start. Before the first rally started there was one man with a vision for a successful and profitable event. He knew that the event had to be held inside a fenced and gated area, but the powers in the county and city made him jump through more hoops, causing nothing but aggravation, with no resolution forthcoming. This very mentality has continued to the present day.
Neither the county nor the city of Hollister has helped in the organization of the event or the willingness to have a successful event except to provide excessive law enforcement. With a rally in a wide open town the event was designed to have a very large law enforcement presence and low profits.
Today the event should close due to the very high cost of law enforcement. In doing so it will save the taxpayer money that could be used some where else for the betterment of the community as a whole.
