I got a chuckle out of a comment on the front page of Friday’s paper saying that the “city layoffs were a Republican thing.”

Brian Conroy, a fine man, councilman and ex-mayor, was a very liberal Democrat the last time I talked with him. The impending layoffs are the direct and predictable consequences of five consecutive years of overspending state revenues by the Democrats who controlled the Legislature and practically all the state constitutional offices from the governor on down over those five years. The Democrats have brought this state to the brink of bankruptcy in five years of misgovernment and unchecked, irresponsible spending.

Like a jobless family, whopping it upon a credit card, the day of reckoning is dawning and it will not be a fun day.

I’m sorry, but the cuts and job losses are just beginning. The past five years of the Democrats anti-business legislation will insure that economic recovery in California will be a long way down a very difficult road.
