Pop Warner signups
Signups for Hollister Pop Warner are by mail this year. Each applicant must submit a registration form and $50 deposit along with other required paperwork. The fees for this year are $175 for football and $125 for cheer.
Registration forms, which contain all pertinent information, can be downloaded at www.eteamz.com/HollisterPopWarner/ or picked up at the San Benito Chamber of Commerce on 650 San Benito St. or the Hollister Recreation Division on 300 West St. Signups are completed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Some teams fill up quickly, so get your paperwork in early.
Babe Ruth signups
The last chance to signup for Babe Ruth Baseball will be Jan. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Straw Hat Pizza.
Softball tryouts
Gilroy Shockers 12A/B and10U fastpitch travel teams are holding tryouts Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 at Gilroy High School girls varsity field at 10 a.m. for pitchers/catchers and 11 a.m. for all other positions. Details: Call Lino De La Cruz 408-802-1788 (12U teams) or Andy Garcia 408-842-0057 (10U team).
No-Ball-Game Day
The No-Ball-Game Day will be held Feb. 7 in Gilroy. It is a day to bring your board game or deck of cards and your friends for some fun. The festive event will be held at the Historic Strand Theater, 7588 Monterey St. from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The $25 ticket includes lunch, two gaming sessions, door prizes and snacks. All kinds of games from Bunko to Yahtzee will be played, but there will be no ball games. Come by yourself, with your children, neighbor or card playing group. Tickets are available by calling Suzanne Barrett at 408-683-2400 or Ruth Slechta at 408-842-1309.
Players needed

Basketball tournament
North American Youth Sports will be holding its annual spring youth basketball tournament in Oakland at the Alameda High School from March 26-28.
