The City of Hollister wants to eliminate 36 employees or $1.8
million from the budget. I suggest we look at everything, but one
department comes to mind. The recreation department and recreation
services manager Robert Ornelas.
If the City of Hollister has a zero tolerance policy towards
sexual harassment, why then has Robert Ornelas not been removed and
put on administrative leave until an investigation is completed?
Instead, he is managing the very people who are accusing him of
wrongdoing. That in itself is harassing.

Recently a lewd stuffed bear clad in a black leather thong, which makes pornographic noises that was in the offices of Robert Ornelas’ recreation department at the Veterans Building, was brought to the attention of two City Council members. The Council members informed City Manager Dale Shaddox.
Now, city employees, if you were the mayor’s drinking buddy, you too could have pornographic pictures and videos at work and keep your job for years to come as if nothing ever happened!
Now, before you decide to lay off one honest, hard working city employee, and there are many of them, answer me this: Why is Robert Ornelas still employed by the city? Why is the part-time assistant who owns the lewd bear still employed by the city?
As a matter of fact, for six weeks the recreational services manager Robert Ornelas was not at work the recreation department operated efficiently. Dale Shaddox’s report states his position should be eliminated. Not only eliminated, he should be fired!
Wait a minute, the three minors who worked with the lewd bear, all Hispanic females working for the recreational department at the Veterans Building in offices of manager Robert Ornelas, have given their two-week notice. Big surprise! There is only one coordinator left at that office! How about we bring her back to the community center where the recreation offices are, eliminating recreational offices at the Veterans Memorial Building.
Well, if we fired two unworthy employees and eliminated the cost of operating offices at the Veterans Memorial Building, how many other honorable city employee jobs could we save? Thank you and God bless!
