California Golf Association South Bay Zone at Spyglass Hill Golf
Course on Tuesday.
PEBBLE BEACH –– Gilroy Golf Course’s team of Jeremy Thielen, Scott Lamoreaux and Al Gamino posted a distinctive final round to capture the Northern California Golf Association South Bay Zone at Spyglass Hill Golf Course on Tuesday.
Gilroy’s final round of 123 was four better than its score in the first round at Poppy Hills. The best two net scores out of four on each hole are counted.
As the only team among the top seven to shoot a lower number in the final round, Gilroy cruised to a six-shot victory at 250 after starting the day in fifth place.
The first-round leader from La Rinconada Country Club finished second at 256 to earn a return trip, along with Gilroy, for the Zone Championship on Aug. 30-31.
