U10 Boys: Class 3
Burlingame Black Hawks 3, Tremors United 1
The Hollister Tremors United put pressure on early against first place Burlingame Black. Ten minutes into the game, Joe Cahill received a crossing pass from teammate Diego Leon and blasted it toward the goal, just missing high over the cross bar.
In the 46th minute, four minutes before the end, the Tremors United scored their only goal.
Martin Navarro took the shot from outside the 18-yard mark and sent it high into the upper corner of the net. It was one of the longest goals scored during the year in the U10 Boys division.
The Tremors United Team trailed 3-0 at halftime but held the Black Hawks to a scoreless second half with good goalkeeping by substitute goalie Kenny Hastings. The goalkeeping efforts combined with the back-line defense of Edgar Ruiz and Nathan Zanger shut down the Black Hawks.
U11 Boys: Class 3
Hollister Pumas 3, Alum Rock Real Azteca 1
The Pumas improved to 3-0-1 with the victory. The Aztecas scored in the opening minutes of the game, but the Pumas didn’t allow a shot on goal after the first half even though they were missing two of their defenders.
The Pumas tied the game shortly before the half on a penalty kick by Renaldo Reyes. In the second half, Brian Cruz beat the goalie from about 18-yards out, and Christian Guardado scored the final goal.
U8 Girls: Class 3
De Anza Force 95 Black 5, Hollister United 1
Deanna Rodrguez scored the only goal for the United in the 5-1 loss. Alexandra Smallwood played a good game defensively at stopper. The team is currently 2-3-1.
U8 Boys: Class 3
The Tremors split their game last weekend, losing 5-4 Friday and winning 10-2 Saturday.
