SAYSO X-Force 3, Hollister United 1

The lone goal was scored by midfielder Kylie Garcia with about three minutes left in the first half.

The opposing coach complimented the outstanding play of the United striker Alexandria Reckas, who constantly kept putting pressure on the goal.

Overall, the team played aggressive and smart with the leadership of team captain Deanna Rodrigues to stay with the third-place team.

After playing midfield for the first half, Kylie Garcia played goalkeeper and recorded a second-half shutout.

Another outstanding defensive performance was turned in by stopper Alexandria Smallwood. She stopped many of their scoring opportunities, before they even got close to the goal.

She also made a nice header save on a shot on goal. Defender Patricia Laguna helped to secure the defense by disrupting many of their plays.

Rodrigues, at midfielder, was also key in making a couple of last minute saves.

Belmont 4, Hollister Pumas 2

In a windy game, host Belmont bounced two early goals over the Pumas’ keeper and into the net.

With the wind at their backs in the second half, Hollister pressed forward to create scoring chances.

But Belmont used every trick in the book to slow the pace of the match.

The Pumas put more players on the attack, which left them vulnerable to Belmont counters.

The Pumas scored on a penalty kick by Reynaldo Reyes to cut the lead to 2-1 after forward Steven Mercado was cut down in the penalty area.

Belmont scored again to make it 3-1. But Hollister came back with a nice through ball to Patrick von Rassler, who redirected it to Brian Cruz for the score.

Belmont’s keeper came up with some big saves in the second half of the game, and Belmont put the game away with a goal with three minutes left.
