Dear Editor:

My name is Anthony Freitas, and I am currently the planning commissioner for San Benito County for District 2. I have served three years and seven months of a four-year term.

I was appointed to the planning commission by Ruth Kesler, the current County supervisor for District 2. I intended to run for this position four years ago and discussed it with Mrs. Kesler.

She pleaded with me not to run and assured me that if I would not run, she would give me her full support in four years. As you are aware, four years later she has been anything but supportive toward me.

The reason for this letter is that Mrs. Kesler has gotten it placed on the July 27 agenda of the Board of Supervisors. I feel that I have been a very effective commissioner and have truly been a voice for the people in District 2. I feel this is a vindictive and unnecessary move by Mrs. Kesler. The most unfortunate thing about the day this is scheduled to be on the agenda is that I will be on vacation.

I have repeatedly tried to contact the chairman of the board by leaving several messages on his telephone, with his wife and by going to his residence. All I am asking for is a fair and just hearing on the matter, and that I might be given the opportunity to attend the meeting. As of this date, I have received no assurance that this will be continued.

Thank you for the opportunity to let you know so that if in fact I am removed from the commission, you will have the facts as to why.

Anthony Freitas,

San Juan Bautista
