The Balers of Hollister High can’t be too secure about their offense as they head into Tri-County Athletic League softball action this Thursday vs. Live Oak at Community Park in Morgan Hill.

The Balers squeaked by visiting Burlingame Tuesday 1-0, scoring their run in the bottom of the first when Jenny Maheu came home on a wild pitch.

Hollister (5-1), facing highly-touted Panthers pitcher Jennifer Chamberlain, had just one hit, that from Kim Dabo in the third inning.

Hollister had just two runs last Saturday in a 2-1 victory over Harbor in the Circle of Champions.

Dani Hernandez was the winning pitcher against the Panthers, giving up three hits in four innings. Alyssa Baker offered another strong outing, picking up the save as she worked the final three stanzas.

Boys tennis

Hollister faced Live Oak at home and was skunked 7-0.

“Live Oak and Gilroy have the best teams in the league,” said Baler coach Allen Barker. “Salinas has the best singles player in John Pettit.”

The Acorns have a great singles group and breezed in singles as only Glen Morris and Michael Blake won two games in a set.

The Balers No. 2 doubles team of Daniel Moyer and Dominique Aiello battled hard before losing 6-3, 4-6, 4-6. The Balers No. 3 doubles duo of Ryan Watson and Patrick Hansen lost 2-6, 6-7 tiebreaker.

Gilroy visits on Thursday at the Ridgemark Tennis Center.

Baseball

Baler baseball is at Gilroy today at 3:30 p.m. before hosting the Mustangs Friday at the same time.

Boys golf

The Baler junior varsity golf team did not disappoint with a 186-202 victory over Gilroy at Ridgemark Golf Club Tuesday. The teams played the Gavilan side with a par of 36.

Chase Graves posted a 44, Steele Wilson a 45, Chris Shackleton a 48 and Wes Nelson a 49 for the four-player total. Other Balers included Michael Fisher (50) and Sam Brigantino (57).

All six T-CAL teams are at Ridgemark GC on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
