The Hollister High boys golf contingent was back on the beam Monday with a crucial Tri-County Athletic League match against Live Oak and Gilroy.

Playing at Gilroy Golf Course on Hecker Pass, the Balers shot a team total of 156 to the Mustangs 165 and the Acorns 167.

“We played well today,” said Baler head coach Mitch Thomas. “John Dempsey really came through for us and Ian Hudson has been playing real steady.”

Dempsey shot a one over par 36, while Hudson, the Balers’ No. 1, carded a 39. Chris Zubiaga had a nice round of 40. Two Balers shot 41 – Zach Zgragen and Matt Lopez. Dan Rivera had a 45.

The Balers gained a point in the team standings and now have six points in the league standings. Five of the six T-CAL teams are within a point and a half of each other.

“I don’t know exactly where we stand,” said Thomas. “We’ll know more on Thursday when they’ll have all the totals.”

The Balers host the T-CAL match on Thursday at Ridgemark where all league teams are present. The winner is awarded a half point, second place a point, and so forth down the line.

Tee time is 2:30 p.m. at the Gabilan Course.
