The Hawks, after shooting a team score of 318 at a Mission Trail Athletic League tournament at tough Poppy Hills Thursday, will play a junior varsity schedule under first-year coach Earl Dart.

Austin Muesel, who carded a 50, and Jason Zirosky, who had a 51, are two Hawks who will be allowed to play at the MTAL tournament on April 28 when the Hawks host at San Juan Oaks.

Dart, a resident of Morgan Hill, was a long shot to get the job, but it happened.

“There weren’t many players because there wasn’t a coach,” said Dart. “They weren’t working too hard at getting players. The school asked a friend of mine if he wanted to coach, who referred them to me. It was kind of a roundabout way.”
