Nashville recording artist and Morgan Hill native Shane Dwight’s one-of-a-kind Gibson guitar was stolen out of his truck at a recent stop near Hollister.
Someone stole the instrument, a “custom job” 1954 Gibson Les Paul re-issue, while Dwight and his band were loading and unloading their equipment at a gig at Ridgemark Golf and Country Club one day last week, Dwight said.
“Someone must have grabbed it, and I didn’t realize it until the next day,” Dwight said. “It’s one of those things, when you’re juggling so many things, I didn’t realize it was missing.”
Dwight, who grew up in Morgan Hill, is hoping to recover the guitar he has owned for about 15 years. He said the instrument’s value to him is more sentimental than financial.
Dwight and his blues band played Sunday, May 25 at the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras, where the guitarist played another ax he owns.
The guitarist/songwriter reported the theft to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s authorities did not immediately return a phone call requesting comment.
