The Hollister Police Department announced a “zero tolerance” policy for illegal fireworks with the July 4 holiday around the corner.
Hollister traditionally has major problems with illegal fireworks going off on July 4. The following is the statement released on the police department’s Nixle website:
The City of Hollister Fire Department Fire Marshals will be out in force for Zero Tolerance Fireworks Enforcement over the coming weeks.
The City of Hollister reminds residents that “Safe & Sane” Fireworks go on-sale in 12 licensed Fireworks Booths on June 28-July 4, 2014.
Possession, sales and use of fireworks that are not approved by the State Fire Marshal’s Office are illegal in the City of Hollister. Fines for possesion, sales and use start at a $1000 fine for the first offense.
The City of Hollister Police Department provides a flyer for businesses, residents and schools to post both in Spanish & English.
