Little League signups

Hollister Little League registration will take place Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Straw Hat Pizza from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A final registration will be held Saturday, Jan. 3 at the Hollister Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fees are $85 for the first player, $50 for an additional player and $50 for T-ball. Please make sure to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate (to be kept by the league), medical insurance information, check or cash (no credit or debit) and a copy of a valid government issued photo identification from the registrant. Heat registration

Hollister Heat Girl’s Softball will be holding registration for the 2004 season Dec. 10, Jan. 5 and Jan. 8 at the Marguerite Maze library from 6-8 p.m. Details: Call 638-9123.

Manager needed

Softball tryouts

Tryouts for the Salinas Storm Summer 2004 girls fast pitch softball teams for ages 10, 12, 14, 16, 18A and 18 Gold will be held Dec. 7 at the Salinas Sports Complex. Space needed

The Razorback Wrestling Club is a nonprofit organization looking for a workout facility. They have two full size 60′ by 60′ wrestling mats that need to be accommodated. Workout space is extremely limited. Any help or suggestions are helpful. Please call David Salcedo at 831-902-0651.

Bowling tournament

Bowlers interested in competing in the 101st American Bowling Congress Championships Tournament in Reno, Nev., should get their entries in as soon as possible. So far, four teams from the Hollister area have signed up to compete.

The Central Coast Barnstormers, an amateur adult football team, will be holding a final fall mini-camp and tryout Sat., Dec. 6 at 9:30 a.m. at South Valley Junior High School in Gilroy. Adult hoops

The Hollister Recreation adult men’s and women’s winter basketball season begins Jan. 10. Registration ends Friday. The cost is 625.Teams are guaranteed to play 12 games. Details: 636-4390.

Scholar athlete nominations

The Central California Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame is accepting applications for its 2004 Scholar-Athletes for outstanding academic, athletic and leadership accomplishments.

Nominations are due today from all 16 high schools in Monterey and San Benito Counties.

The Central California Chapter is second in the total amount of scholarships given throughout the United States. Since 1974, the Chapter has honored more than 300 scholar-athletes with awards in excess of $400,000.

Several recipients have become NFL professional players.

The Central California Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame honors High School Scholar-Athletes with recognition and reward at an annual Luncheon and at a black tie Awards Banquet that will be held in 2004. Details: Mark Risley at 831-375-3301.
