The movie, featuring actors Seth Rogan and James Franklin, was also released online today (Dec. 24) through YouTube, Google Play, the Microsoft Xbox video game console and a Sony website, according to several news reports.
The controversial comedy—directed by Rogan and Evan Goldberg—follows characters Dave Skylark and producer Aaron Rapoport, who run the celebrity tabloid show “Skylark Tonight.” When they land an interview with a surprise fan, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, they are recruited by the CIA to turn their trip to Pyongyang into an assassination mission, as described on imdb.com.
Sony Pictures suffered a cyberattack last month and, according to several news reports, the North Korean government was involved due to its fury over the movie. Sony executives decided to cancel the movie’s release, but have since changed course.
Movie times for “The Interview” at Cinelux Tennant Station have not yet been posted on the website, cineluxtheatres.com, or on the theatre’s recorded message at (408) 778-6500.
