Hollister police and Hollister Gives Back partnered for a bicycle giveaway to local children, with 77 bikes handed out this week, according to the Hollister Police Department.
According to a press release from the HPD, the project started in May with the help of Alves Collision Center, Off The Chain Bicycles, Ace Hardware and a number of private sponsors.
Chief David Westrick in the press release underscored how every kid deserves to have a bicycle. Organizers gave away bikes throughout the county, and Westrick delivered bikes to San Juan Bautista and south county.
Agencies picked children based on need through different sources both in the city and county, with a total of 77 bicycles and helmets given out.
