‘Sound of Music’

HOLLISTER – San Benito High School’s spring musical “Sound of Music” will be performed March 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets are available at the door for $9.

Rock choir concert

HOLLISTER – The Fairoaks Presbyterian Rock Choir will be holding a praise and worship concert March 23, at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Hollister, 2066 San Benito St. The group of high school and college-age students are making Hollister the first stop on a spring tour. They will sing contemporary Christian music mixing in drama to emphasis the theme of “This Life” as seen through the eyes of the Prodigal Son. All are welcome and a free-will offering will be taken. Compost giveaway day

HOLLISTER – Residents of San Benito County including those residing in Hollister and San Juan may receive up to _ a cubic yard of compost for free on March 23, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the corner of Memorial and Hillcrest roads, at the Veteran’s Memorial Park. The event is sponsored by the San Benito County Integrated Waste Management Regional Agency. Residents are required to bring their own shovel and containers. Half a cubic yard is equal to three 32 gallon garbage cans. Details: 831-636-4110.

Caregiver University

HOLLISTER – A free Caregiver University will be hosted March 23, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St., for residents caring for a loved one with memory loss or dementia. The day will include workshops on: challenging behaviors, communication, anger and paranoia; personal care issues and wandering; and healthy body, healthy brain. Speakers include Bonnie Bollwinkel and Alexandra Morris, and the Alzheimer’s Association. Spanish translation is available. Respite or transportation may be available.
