This is the collection of illegal fireworks confiscated by Hollister authorities in 2012. Just four years ago, the Hollister authorities confiscated 292 pounds of illegal fireworks.

With extremely Fourth of July around the corner and hot temperatures expected in the coming week, the Hollister Fire Department issued the following tips for residents:
• Drink plenty of water.
• Use only fireworks that have the Safe & Sane label.
• Do not modify fireworks in any manner.
• Light and back away – never hold fireworks (except sparklers).
• Do not use fireworks near areas of dry grass/debris.
• If you will be consuming alcohol – plan ahead who will be the sober one in charge of lighting the fireworks.
• Place fireworks in a waiting bucket of water after use.
• Watch for traffic if children are playing in street.
