A deputy district attorney said he expects the office to make a formal charging decision Friday relating to accusations a 17-year-old Morgan Hill resident stabbed a Hollister man to death.
Deputy District Attorney Patrick Palacios on Thursday afternoon said the San Benito County office had not received the case file yet. He expected to have it soon and have a formal charge filed by mid-day Friday, with a possible court arraignment Friday afternoon.
Regarding a decision on whether to charge the suspect as an adult, Palacios declined to comment until there is a charge.
Hollister police officers arrested a 17-year-old male from Morgan Hill on Wednesday for the suspected murder of Andres Guzman, 19, of Hollister, who was found Aug. 8 with stab wounds at Fourth and Powell streets. Guzman later died at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital.
Police say they suspect it was a gang-related crime. In addition to the Morgan Hill resident’s arrest, Hollister police served two search warrants in Hollister and one in San Juan Bautista in the case.
