Hollister police last week conducted a probation check at a South Street police alleged in a statement.
According to police, the Hollister agency worked with county probation and the United Narcotics Enforcement Team on a probation compliance check Tuesday in the 900 block of South Street. While doing a search to the home of Sergio Cervantes Jr. and Alfredo Cervantes, police allege they found a Winchester Model 1300 Home Defense pump shotgun, according to a police statement.
The two suspects were already in the county jail at the time on unrelated charges. Police recommended the additional charges for the shotgun discovery.
According to the police statement:
This successful operation was conducted in support of the City of Hollister’s Safe Communities and Neighborhoods project and is funded through the Board of State and Community Corrections CAL GRIP grant program. This grant supports the efforts of the Hollister Police Department to combat gang related incidents, and also to educate the community and parents of children who may be susceptible to gang influence.
