The Hollister Police Department has identified and arrested the teenage suspect who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint a month ago.

On Feb. 16, about 5:45am, an unknown male entered the Quik Stop at 10 San Felipe Road. He pointed a handgun at one of the store employees and made demands for money. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Following the incident, Hollister police detectives and officers received numerous tips from the public. Officers conducted more interviews, and detectives followed up on forensic evidence in the case.
On March 5, detectives were able to obtain a warrant for the arrest of a 17-year-old male believed to be responsible for the crime.

About an hour later, before the warrant was even fully processed and entered in state databases, the suspect fled from probation officers. The suspect was arrested shortly thereafter in the 300 block of Tres Pinos Road and questioned by detectives. The suspect was still wearing the shoes depicted in the surveillance photographs from the night of the incident, police said.

The juvenile suspect was charged with armed robbery.

The Hollister Police Department would like to thank the citizens who provided information, leading to the arrest of this suspect.
