Revisit downtown street configuration

I am very excited that the current Hollister City Council has decided to support the motorcycle rally. If my parents were still here, they would be thrilled.

As the proprietors of the Dabo Hotel, Bar, Restaurant and liquor store that once occupied the site at Sixth and San Benito Streets, the rally each summer assured that they could meet all their financial obligations because the cyclists relied on my parents’ “operation” throughout the rally weekend.  For my parents, it was a godsend.

Now to the subject at hand—the fate of San Benito Street. I have reached out to the city council members and shared my thoughts on this matter. I will continue to pursue my thoughts with the council to ultimately succeed in returning all of San Benito Street, from Fourth Street to Nash Road, to its original configuration and return it to the TRAFFIC CORRIDOR it once was and should be again.

Athletic director highly respected

For the last decade, Athletic Director Todd Thatcher of Hollister High School has established the athletic program as one of the best in the Central Coast Region from San Francisco to King City. Todd’s success in his profession has been the close inter-personal relationships he has developed by working closely with the student athletes and their respective coaches.

His advice, support and positive encouragement to these young men and women has allowed the program to succeed both athletically and academically.

Todd is highly respected by his peers in the educational community. He is an educator who cares deeply for his students and believes that the role of the teacher is to teach and to respect each of his or her students.
