Major roadway rehabilitation work on Fairview Road is scheduled to begin the week of June 8 as part of a county project aimed at improving road conditions and extending the roadway’s service life.
According to San Benito County officials, preliminary construction activities began May 27. The next phase of the project will include grinding and paving operations on both northbound and southbound lanes on June 8 and 9, weather permitting.
Additional improvements will include shoulder work, roadway delineation and installation of permanent pavement striping.
Paving operations are expected to take place from 7am-6pm, while other construction activities will generally occur from 7am-5pm, says a county press release.
Motorists should expect temporary traffic controls, lane restrictions, reduced speed limits and brief delays during construction. Drivers are encouraged to use caution, follow posted signs and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area, county staff said.
The project is expected to continue through June. After paving is completed, crews will install permanent striping and conduct final closeout work.
