Dear Editor,

First off let me say that this past year was a great year for Bull Dog Boxing Gym.

We trained two newcomers from our gym. The first was Tony Corrales, who ended this year with a California State Title, Central California Silver Gloves Championship as well as third place at the State Championships. Second was Jonathan Casaca who won the Central California Silver Gloves Championships, State Silver Gloves Championships and placed second at the Regional Silver Gloves Championships.

We also had two veterans of the game. One was Alfred Martinez who, after taking a three year break, cam back to win a California State Championship, Central California Silver Gloves Championships and, after a very controversial decision, placed second at the State Silver Gloves Championships.

Now let’s not forget Bull Dog Boxing Gym’s Boxer of the Year Jorge Hernandez, who this year alone captured two California State Championships, Central California Silver Gloves Championship, State Silver Gloves Championship, Regional Silver Gloves Championship and had a chance to be Bull Dog Boxing Gym’s first boxer to win two consecutive national championships. He may not have made the national championships in Independence Missouri, but he will still be recognized as our National Silver Gloves Champion. Even after knowing that money was our downfall, Jorge Hernandez will still smile and say we will just have to try again next year.

At this time I would like to thank all the sponsors who helped us through all the boxing shows and the tournaments this year. Without you, these boys would never have made it this far. We look forward to the up coming year and hope to do as well if not better with all the new boxers we have this year as well as the vets.

In closing I would also like to thank all the people who tried to help Jorge Hernandez’s quest for national championship. We will be depositing the money that was donated into purchasing a much needed van for the transport of our boxers to and from all the future boxing shows. At this time I would like to send a special thanks to Mary Appel of Appel Ranch for her donation.
