The Hollister American Little League AAA Minors Twins came one win short of a District 9 Minors Tournament of Champions title, losing to the Hartnell Athletics 11-0 in Gonzales Wednesday night.

“I think we were emotionally drained from the win over the Cubs Tuesday,” said Twins manager Scott Salvas. “We came out flat.”

The Hartnell hurler went the distance (five innings) and gave up just two hits. The Zazueta-Carrillo brothers – Tanner and Tucker – each had a hit for the Twins. Tucker’s was a double.

The Twins ended the year 12-7.

Salvas will assist Mitch Burley on the American League 9-10 B All-Star team.

“Time to move on to All-Stars,” said Salvas. “Some of our kids will be on that team.”

In Farm A playoff action Wednesday, the Diamondbacks blanked the Rockies 12-0, while the Giants edged the Dodgers 4-3. The D-Backs and Giants meet Saturday at 2 p.m. at Vet’s Park for the National League title. The White Sox shutout the Rangers 6-0 to earn a berth in the American League title game vs. the A’s. That game is at 9 a.m.

The AA title games are all set for The Vet. The Mets and Marlins meet at 11 a.m. for the National League championship, while the Red Sox face the Blue Jays for the American League title at 4:30 p.m.

Parking will be at a premium due to the league hosting the Majors TOC’s all day long.

Note: The All-Star teams will be listed in the Free Lance sometime next week.

The tournaments begin as follows: The District 9 11-12 Majors All-Star Tournament begins July 5 at Manzanita Park in Prunedale.

The D9 9-10 All-Stars start in Hollister on June 27.

The 9 year-old and 11 year-old brackets are unavailable at present, but the 9 year-old tournament will be held in San Juan Bautista with 12 games at Vet’s Park. The 11’s play in Salinas.
