Assemblyman Luis Alejo announced he was reappointed as chairman of the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee for the 2013-14 legislative session.
Alejo, D-Salinas, announced that and other committee appointments in a statement released Friday.
According to the statement, the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee has primary jurisdiction on hazardous waste regulation; toxic substances and hazardous materials; drinking water regulation; pesticides; processed food safety and public health protection.
Alejo will also serve on the Assembly Labor Committee, the Assembly Judiciary Committee, and the Assembly Local Government Committee – of which Alejo served as vice-chairman last session.
