Assemblyman Luis Alejo, D-Salinas, will be leading a workshop Jan. 30 in Hollister on the Cal Grant application process as well as a “Middle Class Scholarship initiative.”
The event will be held at San Benito High School, Rooms 477 & 482, 1220 Monterey St., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Hardworking families struggle to overcome the financial barriers of a college education for their children,” he said in a statement. “Paying for college can be difficult and that is why we are here to provide tools to help families overcome these barriers.”
The workshop will give assitance to families in filling out Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms, California Dream Act applications and Cal Grant GPA verification forms. Students will also have a chance to apply for $1,000 scholarships provided by the California Student Aid Commission.
