The Hollister American 11-year-old All-Star team advanced to the District championship by winning both games over the weekend in Salinas.

The Hollister National team lost a heartbreaker 3-2 against King City Saturday and will play tonight at 5:30pm against Ferrasci or Hartnell at Continental Field in Salinas.

King City scored an unearned run late to prevent Hollister National from facing the American team. Hollister National was down early after a leadoff home run. Nicholas Chicoine remained hot, driving in both runs for the Nationals. David Achen and Sean Corral pitched for Hollister.

Hollister American defeated Hartnell 5-3 on Saturday behind a complete-game by Craig Slibsager, who had 11 strikeouts and gave up four hits. The Americans will play in the championship game Friday at 5:30pm at Continental Field.

Hollister had a 5-1 lead going into the sixth inning before Hartnell hit a two-run home run.

The Americans got a run in the first inning. Ray Rueda singled and Slibsager doubled. In the second, Brian Becerra had a single then Rueda doubled him in. Hollister added three more runs in the third inning.

On Sunday, Hollister defeated King City 8-3 on two home runs by Richie Beltran. Beltran also pitched four innings and struck out seven batters. Ryan Christian and Skyler Shaw-Fuss pitched an inning each to close it out.

Hollister opened up with three runs in the first inning and had and 8-0 advantage at one time.
