They were a lot bigger and a lot more physical,

In the last five minutes, we started to execute a little. Even

The Hawks had a couple games cancelled this season. The game against Monte Vista Christian will not be made up, but the game against Cyprus Grove will be made up later this month, Cecena said.

Anzar was defeated 52-34 at Carmel on Tuesday night. Erika Rodriquez led the Hawks with 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Jessica Staley had eight, Amanda Olsen had seven and Suzie Garcia had four points.

The Hawks (1-8, 0-1 MTAL) fell behind 19-4 in the first quarter, but outscored Carmel 13-10 and 13-12 in the second and fourth quarters.

“We came within 10 at one time,” said coach Paul Lerma. “We had problems with their press to start off. They were real quick. Our zone defense was working well, but we couldn’t stop their fast breaks.”
