San Juan Bautista – The Anzar High girls soccer team had little trouble getting past visiting Gonzales on Thursday to snap a six-game losing streak and improve to 3-7 in MTAL play, 4-8 overall.

Freshman Cayley Faurot-Daniels will likely be seeing more time on the varsity field after turning in a hat trick against the Spartans in the Hawks’ 4-1 win.

Faurot-Daniels scored her first goal in the 12th minute off a double assist from Britni Ramos and Leah Jimenez and then got another one off an assist from Mackenzie Quaid.

“The girls are playing hard and working really well together,” said Anzar head coach Jesse Martinez of his team’s effort. “They were communicating well out there today, helping each other out.”

Gonzales’ lone goal came in the first hall when Cynthia Camacho fired a shot into the Hawks’ net.

But Anzar’s Sarah Wisotsky responded with a great shot off a free kick on the Spartans’ end of the field that made its way into the net.

Faurot-Daniels scored her third goal and wrapped up the game’s scoring with three minutes left on a hard-kicked penalty shot to the left side of the Gonzales goal.
