Hawks stay unbeaten in MTAL with 7-0 win over Pirates
Gonzales – The Anzar girls made it two in a row in Mission Trail Athletic League play Wednesday with a 7-0 drubbing of Gonzales.

Sara Chatley and Olivia Austin each had hat tricks as the Hawks improved to .500 overall at 2-2 and remained unbeaten in league play at 2-0.

“It’s certainly the beginning that we are looking for,” coach Deric McLean said.

Chatley scored twice off corner kicks that went untouched into the net. A third corner kick attempt by Chatley hit off the post.

Austin, who also scored in Monday’s win over York, matched her goal total from last season with four.

“This is both because Olivia is a better player now than then and because she has an entire team who is committed to supporting one another at every turn,” McLean said.

Anzar didn’t find the back of the net until the 36th minute, but once it did the floodgates opened with four goals coming in the next seven minutes.

Alex Brown contributed three assists and consistently dropped several picture perfect passes into the box to set up shots.

“As a coach, it is wonderful to see these girls stepping up, leaving every ounce of themselves on the field, and feeding off one another’s enthusiasm,” McLean said.

Michelle Chatley also punched in a goal for the Hawks and Sara Chatley had an assist to go along with her three goals.
