Luis Alejo

Assemblymember Luis Alejo is seeking nominees for the 2015 California Peace Awards.
The deadline to submit the names of potential honorees has been extended to Monday July 6, according to a press release from Alejo’s office.
The honor is given to one individual who has made a significant contribution to increase community safety and prevent violence in the past year. Nominees must be residents of the 30th Assembly District, which includes San Benito, Monterey, Santa Clara and parts of Santa Cruz counties.
“It’s amazing to read about the commitment and dedication people have for their communities,” wrote Alejo in a press release. “I respect and value the work, and the efforts, of these individuals towards making our neighborhoods safer.”
Nominees should have a strong record of volunteering, philanthropy and community involvement. Individuals who have previously received a California Peace Award are not eligible for nomination.
Award recipients will be honored during a National Night Out ceremony on Tuesday Aug. 4.
