With 4-2 win on Wednesday, Soledad defeats Anzar 8-1 Friday
San Juan Bautista

After falling at Soledad 4-2 Wednesday, the Anzar baseball team looked to return the favor at home Friday, but fell behind early to the Aztecs and lost 8-1.

The Aztecs jumped out to a 6-0 lead through the first three innings, and the Hawks were simply not able to recover.

Anzar is now 0-4 in the Mission Trail Athletic League, 2-7 overall.

“On Wednesday, we were in the game and I think today, when they put up the three-spot in the first inning, that kind of deflated us,” manager Andrew Barragan said. “It kind of let the air out. It was uphill again and we never recovered from that first inning.”

Starting pitcher Adam Wilkinson threw three innings, allowed six runs on three hits and struck out two. He also hit two batsmen and walked three.

Reliever Devon Parrish pitched the remainder of the game and allowed two runs on two hits while striking out three. Parrish had three walks and hit two batsmen.

The Hawks plated their run in the fifth on a suicide squeeze.

Anzar will host Greenfield Wednesday in San Juan Bautista.
