Our first Red Phone caller of the week, a friendly Hollister woman, asked the Crimson Crusader to get something done about Smith Alley in Hollister. Our caller said the alley is treated like a public bathroom.

The Crimson Crusader called Hollister Code Enforcement Officer Mike Chambless to see what could be done. Chambless said he is working on several different strategies is solve the problem. He also promised to keep our hero informed about progress on the issue. So, there you have it, dearest caller; Chambless is on the case.

Roosters Need to Cool it With the Crowing

Our next Red Phone matter concerns the two roosters that have become the scourge of Fifth Street in Hollister. The roosters have plagued the area with incessant crowing at all hours of the day.

The Crimson Crusader called Hollister Animal Control Supervisor Julie Carreiro to see what could be done. Carreiro said Animal Control officers have been out to the area dozens of times to catch the birds, but have failed. She said Animal Control is hoping residents can catch the offending fowl and bring them to authorities.

Carreiro is aware of the problem and hasn’t given up on catching the crowing creatures. The Crimson Crusader will be checking in with the county’s foremost experts on catching wild roosters.

The Crimson Crusader Always Plays it Safe

Our next Red Phone question came from a Hollister woman concerned with last week’s Red Phone column. Our caller wanted to know if the Crimson Crusader was wearing a helmet when performing daring stunts of skill and speed at the Daniel Yetter Memorial Skate Park in Hollister while getting to the bottom of a graffiti problem on May 23. The answer: Yes. The Crimson Crusader always wears a helmet. When it comes to safety, our hero doesn’t play games.
