San Benito girls water polo handled Gilroy 12-5 at Gilroy as the Tri-County Athletic League season commenced on Wednesday. Baler head coach Derek Kisling raved about his club, in particular Stacey Lass, Jordan Telles, Jenna DeCoite and goalie Erin Reed.
Lass, perhaps, the Balers fastest swimmer, had three goals and several steals, according to Kisling.
“Stacey was fantastic,” said Kisling. “She was monstrous on steals.”
Telles, a junior, had two goals.
“It was a breakout game for Jordan,” said Kisling. “Last year, it took her six weeks to score her first goal. She had a great offensive game for us. And Jenna did great work in the 2-meter. It was a physical game and she had to fight to get position. Reed stepped up in goal, as always, when she had to.”
The Balers used a 4-0 third quarter run to break the game open.
San Benito is at the Clovis Showdown Friday and Saturday, taking on Sunnyside (Fresno) Friday at 1:50 p.m.
