The San Benito boys golf team opened up its season with a
third-place finish at Salinas’ Corral de Tierra par 36.
San Benito finished with a team score of 222. Palma had a 210
and Salinas came in first with a 200.

Zach Zgragen had the low score for the Balers with a 40. Chris Shackleton shot a 44, Wesley Nelson had a 45, Chase Graves had a 46 and Curtis Rhodes had a 47. Sam Brigantino finished with a 55.

Three players were playing in their first varsity match.

The next tournament will be at Salinas Country Club on Tuesday against North Salinas and Live Oak.

“I think we really learned a lot from this first match even though we made a lot of mistakes,” said Baler coach Mark Tinder. “I expect on Tuesday to play better and smarter.”
