The Vikings scored the first goal after the Balers couldn’t clear a ball. But the Balers answered back after a foul to Vanessa O’Campo in the penalty box. Erika Trujillo took the penalty kick and tied up the game.

O’Campo a had breakaway goal that she shot to the corner to make the score 2-1. In the second half, Baler goalie Melissa Aguilar made a nice attempt to deflect a shot out. But the sideline referee said she hit it out behind the line and called it a goal.

O’Campo gave the Balers the game-winning goal with the help of Eva Esparza, Brandy Russell and Abbie Ceja.

Jessica Liebenberg had to move back and play defense with Nicole Silviera, Kassie Kearns and Sarah Mullen to help keep their forwards out of the 18-yard box.

“North Salinas came at us very hard determined to end our winning streak,” said Baler coach Monica Sandoval, whose team is 8-0 in the Tri-County Athletic League.
