Salinas – The San Benito girls tennis team lost 4-3 to Notre Dame on Thursday.
San Benito (6-5, 1-3 TCAL) won its first three singles matches behind Danielle Burke (6-2, 6-1), Jamie Huston (6-4, 6-2) and Vanessa Martinez (7-6, 7-5). No. 4 Mary Von Urff lost 4-6, 0-6.
Alyssa Panacho and Megan Kirk lost 1-6, 0-6. And Kaitlyn O’keefe and Tracy Hopkins lost 3-6, 1-6. Michelle Rovella and Rebecca Williams lost 0-6, 0-1.
“The key for us it to keep improving,” said coach Ed Cecena. “Hopefully we will get over the hump next time around. We’re offaly close. We just all have to click at the same time.”
San Benito has one more more match against visiting Live Oak Tuesday before going back through the league schedule.
