The San Benito Boys basketball team lost 73-53 at Seaside on Wednesday night.

“We had a hard time handling their pressure and had too many turnovers,” said Baler coach David Kaplansky. “We tried to dribble through their press rather than passing through it.”

The Balers got within three points in the third quarter. Eric Davis made a nice inbounds steal but was called for a charge. Seaside took the ball the other way and hit a three pointer to open up the game.

The Balers had good contributions from everyone in the game, Kaplansky said.

“We went with a 15-man rotation in the second half, looking for the effort to win the game,” Kaplansky said.

Kyle Sharp led the Balers with 15 points, Anthony Butler had 12 and Kevin Zanella had eight.

The Balers (10-5) will play Friday night against visiting Monte Vista Christian, who is also 10-5.

“It is a must win for us,” Kaplansky said. “We have to go into league on a positive note.”
