Another four goals. Another Haybaler win.

The San Benito boys soccer team made it two wins in a row Thursday when they thumped North Salinas 4-0 behind a strong performance from Efrain Espinoza.

Espinoza had a pair of assists and added a late score for San Benito, which improves to 4-6-0 in the Tri-County Athletic League.

On Tuesday, San Benito edged Everett Alvarez 4-3.

“It feels good,” coach Ben Alvarez said. “It’s kind of late. The passing game was outstanding. It just looked beautiful.”

Espinoza wasn’t the only ‘Baler to contribute, though, as German Garcia’s unassisted goal in the 8th minute supplied enough ammo for San Benito to grab another victory.

The Vikings were held to just seven shots on net for the entire game.

Keeper Christian Maravilla made three saves in the first half, while Edgar Fernandez took his place in the second half and made one save.

After Espinoza hooked up with Gilbert Lizarraga in the 30th minute to make it 2-nil ‘Balers, Maravilla, now at the forward position, pocketed a goal in the 50th minute off an assist from Espinoza.

Espinoza then made the contest a blowout in the 65th minute, when he scored a goal off a pass from Jose Granados.

San Benito took 23 shots in the contest, 15 in the second half.

The ‘Balers will host Alisal Tuesday in Hollister. The game is currently slated for a 6:30 p.m. kick-off at Andy Hardin Stadium, although coach Alvarez is seeking to move the game time up to 3:30 p.m., and have it on the soccer fields in front of the SBHS parking lot.
