The Haybalers (2-1 Tri-County Athletic League, 5-5 overall) throttled the Wildcatz 21-6 at the SBHS pool.

Jordan Schafer found the back of the net seven times and added five assists to lead San Benito on the day. Ryan Whiteside contributed five goals and three assists against Watsonville, while Adam Rianda pocketed four goals of his own. Phil Torres and Matt McCullough each added a pair of goals as well.

Even goalie Kyle Reuther got in on the action, picking up two assists while in net.

“The guys did a good job,” coach Tom Agan said. “We worked on our front court mostly. We didn’t counter a lot. Mostly, I made them set up and run a front-court offense.”

This Friday and Saturday, the ‘Balers will travel north for the Los Altos Tournament.

Said Agan, “That’ll be another tough tournament.”

Girls Water Polo

The Lady ‘Balers had a strong showing against visiting Watsonville Monday, and kept their TCAL record flawless.

Kelsey Russell, Ronnie Stern, Sarah Yoldi, Ali Kimes and Katelynd Schaaphok each supplied a goal.

Coach Lacey Sutton said she was pleased she was able to get everyone some playing time.

The Lady ‘Balers will look to stay in the win column this Friday and Saturday at the Independence Sixers’ Tournament in San Jose.
