Playing in its final game before its league schedule ramps up, the San Benito High baseball team dispatched visiting Everett Alvarez 11-1 on Tuesday in Tri-County Athletic League action, with the game being called in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.
The Balers plated 11 runs on just six hits in the game, although they directly scored seven of those runs without connecting on a single hit, taking advantage of several base on balls committed by Alvarez as well as hit-batsmen.

The bottom of the fifth inning, for instance, saw San Benito score five runs on just one hit — a walk-off RBI single to center field by Matt Vallejo that plated Marcus Sabatte from third base.
The shortened, five-inning affair played out similarly during the previous innings as well.
After Alvarez went ahead 1-0 in the top half of the first, its first and only run of the game, San Benito responded in the bottom half with one run without recording a hit.
The Balers then opened the game in the fourth when Dustin Rovella connected on a three-run homer to make it a 4-1 contest. But later that inning, Anthony Ocampo drew a walk and advanced all the way to home following a single by Shadoe Valenzuela and back-to-back walks drawn by Tyller Smith and Nick Stephens.
In the fourth, Marcus Sabatte scored a run after he reached base with a double, stole third, and eventually advanced home following a sacrifice fly by Rovella.
The game was called one inning later behind San Benito’s five-run fifth.
The Balers are now 4-0 in the TCAL, 6-2 overall.
San Benito sent four pitchers to the bump Tuesday, including starter Dustin Rovella, Robert Soto, Cooper Sepulveda and Skyler Fuss, who combined for one run on two hits while striking out seven.
At the plate, Sabatte scored four runs on two hits and had two walks, while Rovella knocked in four runs.
San Benito’s schedule will ramp up on Thursday and Friday when the Balers will open a two-game series against Salinas. San Benito will host the Cowboys Thursday at 4 p.m., and will visit Salinas on Friday at 4 p.m.
