The Hollister Headhunters 10U travel baseball team compiled a 4-1 record to finish in second place at the Labor Day Classic in Reno, Nev. on Sept. 5-6.

Garrett Bourdet led the Headhunters with a .545 (6 of 11) average, while teammate Tyler Triano (.538) hit his second home run of the season — the first out-of-the-park homer for the Headhunters.

Hollister won its first four games and even held an 8-0 lead through two innings of play in the championship against Bulldogs Baseball. But the Bulldogs scored four runs in the third to cut the deficit in half, then tacked on eight more runs in the fourth to claim the lead.

The Headhunters tied the game in the fifth with four runs of its own, but the Bulldogs plated the go-ahead run in the sixth to take a one-run lead.

Marcos Flores doubled in the final inning, but Hollister was unable to bring him home, and Bulldogs Baseball defeated the Headhunters 13-12 in the final.

Isaiah Bueno, Marco Gaitan and Marcos Flores each had a pair of hits, with Bueno and Triano each adding two RBI apiece.

Previously, Hollister went 4-0 by beating the Dustdevils 10-4, the Muck Dogs 10U 9-2, the Muck Dogs 9U 27-1, and the Dustdevils again 14-2 to advance to the final.

In August, Hollister went 3-1 at the Field of Dreams Summer Finish to take first place.

Mason Marquez led the Headhunters with a .455 average (5 of 11), while Ito was .429 (3 of 7). Triano delivered an inside-the-park homer, which was a first for Hollister this season.

The Headhunters dropped their first game to the Hard 90 Heat by a sizable 20-1 margin, but Hollister rebounded with wins over the Brentwood Boys (15-3) and the Titans (12-3) to advance to the championship against Hard 90.

But although the Heat garnered a 3-1 lead after two innings of play, Hollister battled back with five runs in the third en route to a 7-5 victory.
