The Gavilan College baseball team narrowly lost to first-place Canada College last Friday by a tight 6-4 margin, while the Rams’ scheduled game on Tuesday against San Mateo was not reported.
A win over Canada College last week would have been a sure upset for Gavilan, which falls to 7-12 in the Coast Conference — Pacific standings as a result. The team is 9-21 overall.
Canada, meanwhile, tightened its first-place stranglehold as it improved to 18-1 in the Pacific standings, 26-3 overall.
The Rams will visit Monterey Peninsula College on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Lobos currently sit in fourth place in the Pacific standings — one spot ahead of Gavilan — with an 8-11 record.
