Despite plating five runs in the home half of the ninth, the Gavilan College baseball team dropped a league contest to host Cabrillo College on Tuesday by a 12-7 margin.

The Aptos junior college scored at least one run in each of the first four innings, controlling an 8-0 by the end of the fourth frame. The Rams, meanwhile, didn’t find the scoreboard until the fifth inning.

Ramiro Chapa was 2 of 5 with a run scored and Tyler Oertle was 2 of 5 with a run scored and an RBI, while Gabe Bonilla, Tyler Provost and Robert Von Berckefeldt each added an RBI as well.

On the mound, Drew Davidson allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits over five innings pitched, while Nick Robles (1.2IP, 2H, 4R, 2BB, 3K) and Julian Estrada (1.1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K) finished the game in relief.

The Rams are now 6-27 overall, 2-21 in the Coast Conference.

Cabrillo, meanwhile, improves to 21-13 overall and 13-9 in the Coast Conference.

Cabrillo was led by shortstop Matt Horton, who was 3 of 3 with two runs scored and four RBI. Pitcher Shane Carle earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits over five innings pitched, striking out seven.

Gavilan will square off at College of San Mateo on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is 2:30 p.m.
