The Hollister office of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management will hold a workshop to discuss off-highway vehicle grant proposals and requests for the 2004 fiscal year.

The workshop will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 5-8 p.m. at the BLM field office, 20 Hamilton Court, off Shelton Drive.

There will be no formal presentation at the walk-in workshop. Participants may arrive at any time during its scheduled hours.

The workshop will have three workstations for different grant components: operations and maintenance, resource protection/restoration and law enforcement. This format will provide the public with an opportunity to comment and make recommendations to the BLM Hollister field office’s annual grant request. The proposal will be submitted to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division.

The grant request provides funds for costs directly related to planning, managing and coordinating the BLM off-highway vehicle program in the Clear Creek Management Area located in parts of San Benito and Fresno counties. These grants fund activities such as trail maintenance, resource protection, visitor services and law enforcement.

The Hollister field office is responsible for providing OHV recreation opportunities while protecting the natural environment. The funding from the grant is crucial to provide adequate funds to accomplish this. All interested parties and recreation users are encouraged to participate in the preparation of the grant proposal.
