The San Benito County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday is scheduled to consider various appointments, including three spots on the planning commission.
The changes come in light of two new supervisors – Robert Rivas and Jerry Muenzer – getting sworn in to kick off the month. A third position is open because former Commissioner Robert Scattini stepped down out of concerns for potential conflicts of interest, as he recently took the oath for a seat on the Hollister City Council representing the west side.
To replace Scattini, District 5 Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz is proposing to appoint longtime local businessman Ignacio Velazquez, the owner of The Vault and American Electrical Services in downtown Hollister, and who previously has run for State Assembly.
Over in District 3, meanwhile, Rivas is proposing to appoint former Hollister police Capt. Richard Vasquez as a planning commissioner.
In District 4, Muenzer is asking supervisors to appoint real estate professional Ray Pierce to the commission. Pierce has served as a planning commissioner for the City of Hollister.
Tuesday’s board meeting is set for 9 a.m. at the County Administration Building, 481 Fourth St.
