One of San Benito County’s richest, oldest traditions is set for June 25-27 at Bolado Park.
The San Benito County Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo kicks off a week from Friday night. On that same Thursday, June 24, the fair gets an unofficial kick-start with the Saddle Horse Parade, hosted by the San Benito County Chamber & Visitors Bureau, along main street starting at 6:15 p.m.
As for the rodeo itself, the following are some of the schedule highlights:
On Friday, the rodeo and horse show starts at 7 p.m. Also Friday, at 5 p.m. there will be the increasingly popular wine and cheese reception on the fairgrounds. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Elks Club is hosting its tri-tip barbecue.
On Saturday, the rodeo and horse show starts at 1:30 p.m. The annual Family Barbecue on the Patio is set for 5 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, the final show starts at 1:30 p.m. again.
Additionally over the weekend, there will be Western Art & Equipment Shows, a rodeo clown in Dominic Giorgi, live and silent auctions, and preliminary events earlier on show days. On June 20, the weekend before the official rodeo, there will be the Hodges Memorial Roping event starting at 9 a.m. and free to spectators.
New this year, there is a “senior reined stock horse” class Friday, while beer will be served in the arena area.
