Youth Alliance seeks nominees

The Youth Alliance’s annual Community Hero Award celebration is coming up on March 30 and nominations are being taken for the Youth Inspiration Award. This young person is an example of service to others, inspirational courage or persistence, and is an example of what can happen when we invest in youth and/or of youth leadership.

The Inspiration Award honoree:

Demonstrates a commitment to better themselves and their community.

Is a shining example and role model.

Unselfishly gives of their time and energy to benefit youth and our community.

Be 12 years and older.

When awarded, the youth and two others will be honored guest at the dinner, receiving three tickets to attend the dinner. When the youth have spoken in the past, it is a very powerful and memorable part of the event. The nomination can be done on the Hero Nomination form or email sent to [email protected]. There is no limit to the number of times a person can be nominated. All nominations should be submitted by Feb. 22.

Save the Music instrument drive

Tyler Klindt is collecting musical instruments from the local community to donate to the Hollister School District elementary school music program for his Eagle Scout project, through Feb. 25. Any well kept or damaged instruments that can be donated or help with repairing damaged instruments will be accepted. Some of the needed instruments include trumpets, trombones, clarinets, flutes and saxophones. ‘Lend Me a Tenor’

San Benito Stage Company will present its annual dinner theater show. This year’s show is the comedy ‘Lend Me a Tenor.’ Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. A table for eight can be purchased in advance for $235, with a complimentary bottle of wine. Tickets are available at Postal Graphics, Paine’s Restaurant or through the San Benito Stage Company. Food Bank Mardi Gras event

The Community Food Bank is hosting a Mardi Gras dinner, dance and silent auction Feb. 25, from 6 to 11 p.m., at San Juan Oaks. Tickets are $100 a person. Pet photo day

The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center will be hosting its 20th annual pet photo day with Peg Jackson serving as a photographer for the event. The cost is a donation of $50 for one 5×7″ inch photo (cash or check only) with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting WERC’s care of orphaned, sick or injured animals. Raining cats and dogs

Pet Friends will host the Raining Cats and Dogs luncheon and fashion show March 10, at 11 a.m., at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, Diablo Room. The event will feature a no-host bar and raffle.
